Love is lovelier the second time…

- “Relish love in your old age! Aged love is like aged wine; it becomes more satisfying, more refreshing, more valuable, more appreciated and more intoxicating!” - Leo Buscaglia
- “Age does not protect you from love, but love to some extent protects you from age.” - Jeanne Moreau
- “Those who love deeply never grow old; they may die of old age, but they die young.” - Sir Arthur Wing Pinero
True love that some people still find late in life.
Last Sunday, I attended a wedding in Tagaytay. Two beautiful quintagenarians took the vows to love and to hold, to cherish and respect, to share their lives… till death do they part. Two hearts became one.
While exchanging vows in front of friends and relatives, the bride and groom cried. Sa sobrang kaligayahan, I’m sure.
It was one of the most touching weddings I had the honor to be invited to. The bride wore a simple strapless champagne colored pencil cut midi with a pastel wrap to match. The groom was dashing in a traditional barong. He is Swiss, by the way. The bride is my Tita Gigi, my mom’s older sister.
She was widowed more than two years ago from her husband of 30 years. We wondered then how she wouldl survive the loneliness of being alone. There were no children to share the loss with. Hindi sila nagkaroon ng anak.
After my uncle died, mag-isa lang siya lagi sa malaking bahay nila sa Tagaytay. Para malibang, nilibot niya ang Pilipinas and had frequent trips abroad. My Tita is a very successful lawyer, a vegetarian and believes in a different way of life which many call religion.
I think there really must be something right in eating only veggies, tofu and fruit. She looks half her age, her skin smooth and glowing, walang wrinkles, walang puting buhok, her figure svelte and lithe. At fifty and some odd years, she’s still lookin’ great. Akshuli, I don’t remember her looking any other way.
Anyway, in one of her trips abroad, she met Uncle Bernie. Single, vegetarian din, tall, handsome, sweet, and very romantic. Hindi akalain ng tita ko, love will bloom the second time around for her.

The happy couple. Reception was held at Wind’s Way, Tagaytay.

A guest performed a native dance of Sulu as a gift to the newlyweds.

Uy nag-”pin the money dance” din sila. Hangkyut naman

Lalo yatang gumanda ang view hehe

May garden sa ibaba ng restaurant. Parang sa ibang bansa, no?
Yup, she most definitely fell in love again. As in sandamakmak na halikan (to the delight of everyone) hehe. Nakakakilig.

The beautiful bride. Congratulations, Tita Gigi and Uncle Bernie. A toast to a life full of love.

Hi Emily,
I think all weddings should be like that. Simple, konti ang guests at masaya. Parang birthday party lang. Walang program.
The celebration was spontaneous. The guests were included, hindi sila audience lang. Hindi siya scripted. At higit sa lahat, walang “in lieu of” haha
I have decided, my wedding will be like my Tita’s.

I think weddings should be an enjoyable one and not the rigid, pressure mounting event. I hate the “in Lieu” too when I receive invitations like that. I am a very practical person but I find that tacky and rude.
I hope to see your wedding pictures here soon! If it will be next year..I might be able to see it too..if invited ako. Hehehehe!
