The battle over condoms

In my comment box:
From Arvin:
I’m sure, most of you have read the articles and probably have your own stand regarding the use of condoms for birth control or for protection from HIV/AIDS.
The bishops’ call
Lipa Archbishop Ramon Arguelles, Sorsogon Bishop Arturo Bastes and Marbel Bishop Dinualdo Gutierrez asked for Cabral’s resignation invoking her alleged “immorality”.
Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales earlier said, “The DOH is teaching something wrong”… “Such mentality is pitiful. If we have leaders like [that] in the DOH, I pity the Philippines for having leaders like them.” He said condoms will never solve the AIDS epidemic and could make the problem even worse.
Sorsogon Bishop Arturo Bastes said a “responsible and moral attitude” toward sex, not condoms, would stop the spread of HIV.
The Church is strongly opposed to artificial means of planning which involves the use of condoms.
Sumagot naman ang mga Reproductive Health advocates:
“The job of a Health Secretary is to promote public health and not to mimic these self righteous and pretentious leaders of the Catholic church who have been demonizing reproductive health,” said Ben de Leon, president of Forum for Family Planning and Development.”
“For heaven’s sake, they are calling for the resignation of Secretary Cabral just because she is doing her work as public health official, who recognizes the serious problem on HIV/AIDS,” sabi naman ni Ramon San Pascual, executive director of the Philippine Legislators’ Committee on Population and Development Foundation, Inc. (whew, ang haba)
The DOH’s “ABC Program” against the spread of HIV-AIDS involves “abstinence” from sex, “being faithful” to your partner, and “Condom use.”

Pretentious, self-righteous, immoral, etc.
Meron pa akong nabasang comment that said condom does not mean sex, sex, sex.
- O pantakip sa bunganga ng baril para hindi pasukin ng buhangin like what the soldiers did in the Gulf war?
Ice cream? Chocolate cake? Homework?
SEX ang naiisip natin, hindi ba? At WALA NANG IBA.
That is called imagery, plain and simple. Ang condom ay isinusuot sa penis. Case closed.
Magbo-bolrum dancing ba kayo? Wearing a condom is always followed by sex. Case closed ulit.

Scene 1: Valentine’s Day
Boypren (17 years old): Uy red roses. Ibibili ko si labs. Matutuwa siya sa flowers.
Flower vendor: O kunin ‘nyo na ‘to sir. P150 na lang. Ito na lang ang natitira eh.
Boypren: Sige, bibilhin ko na.
Flower vendor: Swerte ‘nyo sir. May libreng condom na kasama ‘yan.
Boypren: Huh? Bakit? Para saan ‘yan?
Flower vendor: Alam mo na. Valentines day eh.

Noon, ganito ang tanong, “Did you hug your child today?
If I should believe some people, ito dapat ang itanong sa kanila, “Did you give your child her condom today?”
“Of course we did! Anong palagay mo sa amin, tanga? We recognize the serious problem on Aids!” said the concerned parents.
Hehe Imbes na peanut butter sandwich, dalawang condom ang baon ni iha mia, “ribbed” for her pleasure pa LOL! Nice.
Cardinal Rosales said, “The DOH is teaching something wrong”.
Siguro, nagkakatalo lang sa approach. In my opinion, the biggest complaint of the church is valid. DOH should not have distributed tools for birth control indiscriminately. They’re sending the wrong message to the youth. As in, “Children, go have sex, but be sure to use condoms, okay, sweeties? Here, take some, they’re free”.
But let me quote a very familiar saying, “the END does not justify the MEANS.” If you get what I means

A friend who saw the news said the slogan of DOH for Valentines Day should have been like this:
May libreng condom kasi tayo.”
Sabay malaswang kindat bwahaha!
