Announcement: Comments

Oct 24th, 2009 by ella

To everyone,

As per your request, comments on this blog were not moderated. I had to close the comment box a while ago because someone posted a comment addressed to coca_cola187 using my name and my URL. Deleting it caused problems in my dashboard.

There was another comment supposedly by me using text language. That was a mistake in sabotage strategy, whoever you are. I have never used text lingo in my thousands of posts and hundreds of comments.

DSWD people, against my better judgment, I allowed my blog to be your sounding board. But you abused your so-called “freedom of speech”. Lumampas kayo sa kagandahang-asal. It’s more than enough reason to close the comment box. Don’t worry, I did not delete your literary masterpieces for everyone to appreciate and enjoy as long as this blog is open.

I apologize to you, coca_cola187 and to all the others who were victims of this type of harassment. It was a bad decision on my part to give them the opportunity to malign other readers of this blog. I should have known people like them will not respect the opinion of others.

If there is responsible blogging, someone should write about responsible commenting. Comments are published articles, exactly the same thing.

Thank you.

Addendum: In retrospect

I will not deny that some commenters were also harsh in lambasting DSWD in sweeping generalizations in reaction to the photos but their comments were nothing compared to the viciousness of pro-Cabral lobbyists.

Some of my cool-headed supporters were pushed to the limit by the obscene attacks on my person resulting in low blows. The thread turned into insults, cursing and name calling. A civilized exchange of opinions became an impossibility. Like commenter Jessica kept on saying, focus on the issue at hand.

Nakikiramay po ako, Mr. Lito Manresa. I can’t begin to imagine the pain and frustration you and your family felt in those days that you were trapped by floodwaters. Alam ko pong mahirap tanggapin na ang kamatayang ng bawat isa sa atin ay kagustuhan ng Diyos.

Everything happens for a reason. But I truly believe this time, God’s reason is NOT for you to blame and hate Secretary Cabral.

I’m pulling them out I’m pulling them out of my blog’s front page. (not the archive’s pages). (last edited: Oct. 27, 10:45)
